About 23,000 customers of Connecticut Light and Power north of New York City remained without electric power early August 15 after a weekend of severe thunderstorms.

Mitch Gross, a spokesman for the utility, said about 70 repair crews including those from sister companies and private contractors, had restored power late Monday.

Gross said the outages followed a series of thunderstorms that started Friday night. Affected areas in Connecticut included Stamford, Greenwich and Norwalk.

Connecticut Light and Power is part of Northeast Utilities Co.
