PJM Interconnection recently began monitoring and managing the transmission system of East Kentucky Power Cooperative EKPC and began administering open, competitive wholesale electricity markets in that area.
The integration of EKPC into PJM, amid broader efforts to integrate markets across the region, brings 3,099 megawatts of generating capacity and 2,797 miles of transmission lines to the PJM grid.

East Kentucky Power Cooperative is a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative providing wholesale electricity to 16 owner-member distribution cooperatives that serve 520,000 Kentucky homes, farms, Kentucky businesses and industries across 87 counties.
