Scottish Power said that its U.S. subsidiary PPM Energy would acquire and build a new windfarm in northern California, and added that the new project was likely to boost earnings.

Scottish Power said PPM Energy would build the 150 megawatt (MW) Shiloh wind project, and added it would invest around $235 million of capital in the windfarm.

The company said the Shiloh plant would make Scottish Power the current leader in U.S wind power for projects announced in 2005.
