FedEx to introduce its first EV truck in U.S.

FedEx Corp. said it will put four electric trucks into service in the Los Angeles area starting in June.

They will be the companys first allelectric parcel delivery vehicles in the U.S.

FedEx introduced hybridelectric trucks in 2004. It is buying electric vehicles from two different suppliers to gauge their reliability. Navistar is assembling two of the trucks in Indiana. They are based on a design already used by FedEx in Europe.

The other two will come from an unnamed manufacturer, with delivery scheduled for later this year.
