SEL Builds New Headquarters in Pullman
PULLMAN, WASHINGTON - Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc.(SEL) is building a five-story, 90,000 square foot structure along Terre View Drive, just a short walk south of SEL's existing facilities.
SEL founder and president, Ed Schweitzer said, "All parts of SEL are growing, and this new facility will not only give us the space we need, but also become our new front door."
"We are enjoying working with the architectural firm ALSC and the construction company Lydig on this project," Schweitzer added.
Jana Schultheis, SEL property manager, said that the project is on schedule, on specifications, and on budget for an October 2006 completion. SEL recently completed a 22,000 square-foot building to add to its extensive research and development facilities in Pullman, and a 10,800 square-foot facilities maintenance building.

How Synchrophasors are Bringing the Grid into the 21st Century
WASHINGTON - Have you ever heard of a synchrophasor? It may sound like a word out of science fiction, but these mailbox-sized devices are already changing the electrical grid as we know it.
The grid was born over a century ago, at a time when our needs were simpler and our demand much lower. More complex needs are putting a heavy strain on the aging infrastructure, which is why we need to innovate and update our grid so it’s ready for the demands of today.
That’s where synchrophasors come in.
A synchrophasor is a sophisticated monitoring device that can measure the instantaneous voltage, current…
