Consumers Energy Customers Can Go Online to Report Outages, Get Restoration Information
JACKSON, MICHIGAN - When nasty weather interrupts electric service, Consumers Energy customers can go online from any location with power and Internet access to report an outage or get an update on the progress of power restoration.
The online service provides another option for customers, but shouldn't be used to report emergencies. Customers with an emergency should continue to use the utility's toll-free number: 800-477-5050.
Customers who use the online service at work, a library, or any other location will get the same service restoration information available by calling the toll-free number.
To access the online service, customers should go to the utility's website, www.consumersenergy.com , and click on "For Home." From the dropdown menu, select "Report Power Out," then "Report an Electric Outage" or "Estimated Outage Restoration."
The online service is available 24 hours a day, every day.
Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy, provides natural gas and electricity to nearly 6.5 million of Michigan's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
