PG&E to purchase power from Oregon wind farm
The Rattlesnake Road Wind Power Project in Gilliam County, Ore., is currently under construction and is expected to begin operation in the first quarter of 2009. With this agreement, PG&E now has more than 1,213 MW of renewable wind energy under contract or delivered.
"Clean wind power is an integral part of our diverse renewable energy portfolio, which includes hydroelectric, geothermal, solar, wave and biomass resources," says Fong Wan, vice president of energy procurement for PG&E.

LONDON - The share of coal in the UK’s electricity system has fallen to record lows in recent months, according to government data.
The figures show electricity generated by the UK’s most polluting power plants made up an average of 0.7% of the total in the second quarter of this year. The amount of coal used to power the electricity grid fell by almost two-thirds compared with the same months last year.
