Three injured in transformer blast in Newark
Newark Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Witte says the three were walking over a sidewalk grate when smoke and flames rose up. Witte says none of the injuries was life-threatening.
Public Service Electric & Gas spokeswoman Karen Johnson says about 250 customers in downtown Newark are without power. There's no word when electricity will be restored.
Among the buildings without power is the Martin Luther King Federal Courthouse. The outage forced postponement of a bail hearing for a New Jersey blogger charged with threatening three federal judges in Chicago. A new date has not been set for the hearing for Harold "Hal" Turner.

TVA faces federal scrutiny over climate goals, electricity rates
NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Valley Authority is facing federal scrutiny about its electricity rates and climate action.
Members of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce are “requesting information” from TVA about its ratepayer bills and “out of concern” that TVA is interfering with the deployment of renewable and distributed energy resources.
“The Committee is concerned that TVA’s business practices are inconsistent with these statutory requirements to the disadvantage of TVA’s ratepayers and the environment,” the committee said in a letter to TVA CEO Jeffrey Lyash.
