Russian Atomic Energy Ministry sees positive side to IAEA resolution on Iran
MOSCOW - The [Russian] Atomic Energy Ministry views as positive the fact that the International Atomic Energy Agency [IAEA] resolution on Iran allows Russia to continue its cooperation with this country in the area of nuclear energy, a senior representative of the ministry told Interfax, commenting on the resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors on Wednesday [26 November].
"The IAEA resolution will not place an obstacle to the Russian project for building a nuclear unit in Iran and further Russian- Iranian cooperation in the nuclear sphere," the ministry's spokesman said.
He also said that the ministry favours a speedy resolution of the situation with Iran's nuclear programme. "It is necessary to end the political frenzy around the Iranian issue as soon as possible," he said.
