China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has approved four large renewable energy projects — two wind and two hydro, the NDRC announced.

One of the projects is the Jiangsu Rudong Wind Power Phase II expansion, which will be built and operated by Jiangsu Longyuan Wind Power Company Limited, a subsidiary of China Guodian Corporation. The project will have a total installed capacity of 100.5 megawatts (MW) and 67 wind turbines.

China Huadian Corporation received approval for the Guyuan Windfarm project in Hebei province. This project will also have a total installed capacity of 100.5 MW and 67 wind turbines.

Beipan River Power Company Limited, a holding subsidiary of Guizhou Qianyuan Power Company Limited, will built and operate the 880-MW Dongqing Hydropower project, which will be located on the mainstream of the Beipan River in Guizhou. The project will have four 220-MW Francis turbine-generating units with a designed annual power output of 3.04 billion kilowatt-hours. This project is estimated to cost about $941 million.

The fourth project is the 920-MW Luding Hydropower project, located on the mainstream of the Dadu River in Sichuan province. The project will be built and operated by Sichuan Huadian Luding Hydropower Company Limited, a holding subsidiary of China Huadian. This project will have four 230-MW Francis turbine-generating units.
