New Hampshire dedicates first commercial wind farm
Developers say the 12 turbines built by Iberdrola Renewables will produce enough energy to power 10,000 typical New Hampshire homes. Public Service of New Hampshire is buying the power and selling part of it to the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative.
Governor John Lynch said the Lempster Wind Power Project is an important step toward generating 25 percent of the state's energy from renewable sources by 2025. Senator Jeanne Shaheen said it will help the United States move away from fossil fuels and address climate change.
The wind energy is the equivalent of taking about 5,700 cars off the road.

WASHINGTON - Incentives for establishing solar farms at industrial spaces instead of on prime farmland are among the ideas the Washington County Planning Commission is recommending for the county to update its policies regarding solar farms.
Potential incentives would include tax breaks on solar equipment and requiring developers to put power-grid connections and line extensions underground, Planning Commission members said during a Monday meeting.
