Denmark's Vestas, the world's biggest maker of wind turbines, said it was in talks with Belgium's Eldepasco over an offshore wind project in Belgium.

Eldepasco said in an earlier statement it has chosen Vestas' V112-3.0 MW turbines for the North Sea project, which will be operational by the end of 2013 and supply power for 250,000 households.

The offshore wind turbine park will consist of 72 wind turbines, and final contract negotiations were ongoing, the companies said.

"Vestas can confirm that negotiations between Eldepasco and Vestas are ongoing, but Vestas has not yet received a firm and unconditional order for the project," Vestas said.
