FedEx to introduce its first EV truck in U.S.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - FedEx Corp. said it will put four electric trucks into service in the Los Angeles area starting in June.
They will be the companys first allelectric parcel delivery vehicles in the U.S.
FedEx introduced hybridelectric trucks in 2004. It is buying electric vehicles from two different suppliers to gauge their reliability. Navistar is assembling two of the trucks in Indiana. They are based on a design already used by FedEx in Europe.
The other two will come from an unnamed manufacturer, with delivery scheduled for later this year.

HARLAN, KY - Following the high-profile bankruptcy of a coal company that left hundreds of Kentucky miners with bad checks last month, Sen. Johnny Ray Turner (D-Prestonsburg) said he will pre-file a bill Thursday aimed at closing a loophole that allowed the company to operate in violation of state law.
The bill would also compel state agencies to determine whether other companies are currently in violation of the law, and could revoke mining permits if the companies don't comply.
