Russians begin loading nuclear fuel for Iran

MOSCOW, RUSSIA - RussiaÂ’s nuclear agency says it will load fuel into IranÂ’s first nuclear power plant next week, marking the start of its launch.

Rosatom spokesman Sergei Novikov said that uranium fuel shipped by Russia will be loaded into the Bushehr reactor in a ceremony on August 21 marking the beginning of its physical start-up. Novikov said that from that moment the Bushehr plant will be officially considered a nuclear-energy facility.

Russian officials said that the latest UN sanctions against Iran wouldnÂ’t affect the Bushehr project.

NEW MEXICO - The New Mexico House of Representatives passed the Energy Transition Act Tuesday afternoon, sending the carbon-free electricity bill to Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.
