China Datang to build two nuclear power projects by 2015
General Manager Ruoyu Di said the company hopes to begin construction in two to three years and have two other nuclear power projects under construction by 2020.
Other Chinese companies in nuclear power development include China National Nuclear Corporation, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Corporation and China Power Investment Corporation.
China Datang is working with companies like the China Huaneng Group, China Guodian Corporation and China Huadian Corporation to break down the monopoly in nuclear power construction in the country.
In 2007, Datang Huayin Electric Power Company Limited, a subsidiary of China Datang, kicked off the preliminary feasibility study for a nuclear power project proposed in Zhuzhou city, Hunan province.
In April 2009, China Datang signed an agreement with the local government to build a 6,000-megawatt nuclear power plant in Xuancheng city, Anhui Province.
