The United Illuminating Company (UI) signed a commitment letter with the Connecticut Office of Policy and Management as a requirement to receive $2.3 million in federal funding from the economic stimulus package.

“This is great news for our customers, as the funds will go directly into supporting the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund programs we manage,” said UI’s Vice President of Client Services Anthony Marone. “We are committed to offering our customers the best services and resources available, and these funds will be used to help ensure that more of our customers can become more energy efficient.”

Through the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, UI provides programs and services to help residential, and small and large businesses become more energy efficient. The stimulus package funds will be specifically targeted for both residential and business programs, including:

• Home Energy Solutions, a home energy audit program to help homeowners become more energy efficient and learn how to use energy more efficiently.

• Energy Opportunities, a program that helps business customers maximize energy saving opportunities and funds the cost of retrofitting to high efficiency lighting, motors and HVAC systems.

• Small Business Energy Advantage, a program that provides small business customers with no cost energy assessments, financial incentives, and direct installation of energy saving upgrades in their facilities. Qualified customers can even receive interest free financing.
