Is IKEA going solar?

SWEDEN - According to this report on CNET, IKEA is gearing up to sell green products including household solar panels, high-efficiency lighting and efficiency meters. The products would be the fruit of investments made by its 50 million euro GreenTech fund.

Like other retail behemoths, IKEA is putting its best sustainable foot forward, including its line of eco-friendly. pre-fab. pretty-damn-cool BoKlok homes, eliminating noxious chemicals from its product line, hybrid-friendly parking and eventually, eliminating plastic bags from its stores.

Switch from fossil fuels to electricity could cost $1.4 trillion, Canadian Gas Association warns

TORONTO - The Canadian Gas Association says building renewable electricity capacity to replace just half of Canada's current fossil fuel-generated energy could increase national costs by as much as $1.4 trillion over the next 30 years.
