NIPSCO rate meetings in Michigan City
MICHIGAN CITY, INDIANA - Consumers have two chances to comment on Northern Indiana Public Service Company's request for an electric rate increase.
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission will conduct a public hearing with afternoon and evening sessions July 15 to accept oral and written comments on NIPSCO's request to raise electric base rates and charges.
Comments will become part of the record considered by the IURC in reaching its final decision. Commissioners are not permitted to answer questions at the hearing.
One session runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. CDT and the other begins at 6 p.m., both at the Orak Shrine Center at 3848 N. Frontage Road in Michigan City.
NIPSCO serves 450,000 electric customers in 20 counties.

EDMONTON - Alberta Premier Rachel Notley says her government is suspending talks with British Columbia on the purchase of electricity from the western province.

Up to $500 million annually for B.C.’s coffers hangs in the balance, Notley said.
“We’re prepared to do what it takes to get this pipeline built — whatever it takes,” she told a news conference Thursday after speaking with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the phone.
