NIPSCO rate meetings in Michigan City

Consumers have two chances to comment on Northern Indiana Public Service Company's request for an electric rate increase.

The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission will conduct a public hearing with afternoon and evening sessions July 15 to accept oral and written comments on NIPSCO's request to raise electric base rates and charges.

Comments will become part of the record considered by the IURC in reaching its final decision. Commissioners are not permitted to answer questions at the hearing.

One session runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. CDT and the other begins at 6 p.m., both at the Orak Shrine Center at 3848 N. Frontage Road in Michigan City.

NIPSCO serves 450,000 electric customers in 20 counties.

Many Iraqis blame the government for not providing adequate services despite the country’s oil wealth. Protests in southern Iraq last year turned violent, with demonstrators attacking governmental and political parties’ buildings.
