Co-ops studying merger
SOUTH DAKOTA - Two electric cooperatives in southeast South Dakota are mulling a merger.
The boards of Clay-Union Electric in Vermillion and Southeastern Electric in Marion are studying the idea.
Clay-Union Manager Paul Roberts says if the boards endorse a merger it would go to a vote of members in both co-ops, probably in late 2009.
Clay-Union has about 3,100 customers. Southeastern has about 13,000.

CAIRO - Egypt and China's tech giant Huawei on Thursday discussed the gradual transformation of Egypt's electricity network to a smart grid, Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy said.
