Basic Electrical Training For Industrial Applications

Live Online
In-person
12 hours

Basic Electrical Training teaches essential electrical theory, wiring practices, safety standards, and troubleshooting skills for electricians and maintenance personnel. This foundational course supports electrical safety, code compliance, and hands-on technical competence across industries.

Why Basic Electrical Training Matters

This 12-hour (2-day) Basic Electrical Training course covers the major electrical components and systems of low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage in industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities.

? Builds a solid foundation in electrical theory and safe work practices

? Enhances troubleshooting, wiring, and maintenance skills for all experience levels

? Ensures compliance with industry codes, standards, and workplace safety regulations

This instructor-led course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and applications of electricity for personnel who work with or around electrical systems. The course builds from essential theory to applied understanding, offering a clear explanation of how electrical circuits operate and how safe, effective maintenance practices are developed.

Beginning with core concepts such as voltage, current, resistance, and power, participants learn to apply Ohm’s Law to real-world situations and understand the relationship between electrical energy and work. The program then explores wiring methods, overcurrent protection, grounding, and bonding—foundational elements of every electrical installation.

Students are guided through the structure of electrical distribution systems, including how transformers, motors, and control devices function as part of a complete system. Attention is also given to common issues such as short circuits, overloads, and equipment failures, with an emphasis on preventive maintenance and reliability.

A key component of the training is electrical safety. The course outlines the requirements of NFPA 70E and OSHA electrical safety standards, explaining how to recognize shock and arc flash hazards, select proper personal protective equipment, and follow lockout/tagout and safe work procedures.

Learning Outcomes

Students will learn to:

  • Understand the relationships between voltage, current, resistance, and power.

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.

  • Identify components such as fuses, breakers, and conductors.

  • Apply safe electrical work practices, including PPE and lockout/tagout.

  • Troubleshoot simple circuits and perform preventive maintenance.
