Horizon Utilities invests $300,000 in infrastructure for Pan Am Games

Hamilton, ON - Working in partnership with the City of Hamilton and Metrolinx, Horizon Utilities Corporation installed new electrical infrastructure required to power the West Harbour GO station on James Street.

The project began in late 2014 as Horizon engineers and crews recognized the urgency to have the infrastructure in place prior to the Pan Am Games. Horizon established the necessary underground utility services for the GO Station property and delivered all aspects of the project in advance of the opening of the new station.

They installed over a kilometer of underground electrical cable, as well as a new transformer and pole service.

"Investing in Hamilton and St. Catharines is a key pillar of Horizon Utilities' commitment to the communities we serve," said Eileen Campbell, Vice President, Customer Services, Horizon Utilities. "We're proud to do our part in support of the Pan Am Games at a time when the eyes of the Americas will be on Hamilton and St. Catharines."

The James Street GO station project will contribute to Hamilton's immediate transportation needs in the lead up to the Pan Am Games. The $300,000 investment will further serve the community's transportation needs for decades to come.
