John Gorman CanSIA appointment signals leadership with deep solar energy, government relations, and stakeholder engagement expertise, spanning Sunlogics, Ontario's IPSP and FIT Program at the OPA, strengthening renewable policy, infrastructure, and industry association advocacy.

Inside the Issue

John Gorman joins CanSIA, bringing solar policy and stakeholder expertise from Sunlogics, OPA, and Ontario IPSP and FIT.

  • Former SVP External Affairs at Sunlogics Inc.
  • Led stakeholder engagement for Ontario IPSP and FIT at OPA.
  • Founding partner at PACE government and public affairs.
  • Board roles: Hydro Ottawa, OSEA, and World Trade Centres of Canada.

The Canadian Solar Industries Association recently appointed John A. Gorman as the new President of their organization.

Mr. Gorman comes to CanSIA from Sunlogics Inc., an innovative, global integrator of solar energy systems, during a period of SunEdison leadership change in Canada, where he served as Senior Vice President of External Affairs and Director (Canada). Prior to this he was a Founding Partner of PACE, a government and public affairs consulting firm.

“We are pleased to have someone with the wealth of experience John brings to the table. His background in government relations and infrastructure are the right blend for the solar industry and the many small businesses that comprise CanSIA,” said Michelle Chislett, CanSIA Chair. “Solar moves with rare speed and, with developments such as the Canadian Solar HQ move underscoring that pace, his drive and enthusiasm will help us guide members and work with the governments that are crucial to our success.”

Mr. Gorman’s expertise in the energy sector began in 2000 with his appointment to the Board of Hydro Ottawa Holdings (2000 to 2003), marking the start of a period that would later see the Ontario review shape policy in the province. More recently, he played a key role in the stakeholder engagement efforts associated with Ontario’s Integrated Power Systems Plan (IPSP), and later the Feed-in-Tariff Program (FIT Program), alongside the evolving Ontario incentives framework, through his work with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA).

Throughout his career he has been actively involved in corporate and community organizations, including responsibilities as Director on the Board of Sunlogics Inc., World Trade Centres of Canada, Hydro Ottawa and the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA), as well as following FIT contracts for Canadian Solar that influenced the market.
