Be informed on helping them to get home safely.

Lineman and other remote field workers present Utility organizations with a myriad of challenges when it comes to ensuring worker safety. Reliable mission critical telecommunications does not have to be one of those challenges. Network Innovations will provide an introduction and overview on how to leverage commercial and private terrestrial telecommunications networks with satellite technology to ensure remote workers are always connected; even where land-based networks do not exist , are damaged or destroyed or when land-based networks become congested. Network Innovations will show how North American Utilities can extend and enhance the capabilities of their telecommunications networks while significantly reducing capital and operational costs.

Valard Construction

How to build your own advanced competency program and why it is important
Watch the presentation on YouTube
Like many organizations, Valard Construction's greatest asset and challenge is our people. Challenges present themselves as each person is unique – unique background, unique experiences, unique culture. We love to celebrate our people's uniqueness but as a company, we also need business alignment. We need people with standard skills, common goals, same risk tolerances and a shared culture. Our other challenge is that people have free will to choose. How do we make people choose to work for us, stay productive and remain with us?
Valard's answer to these challenges was to create an advanced competency model that not only looks at the technical aspects of the work our people do but also instills those soft skills (e.g. leadership, empowerment, responsibility, accountability, culture, etc.) into a standardized, quantifiable and cost-conscious framework. A framework that inspires workers, meets our business needs, and distinguishes us from our competitors.
This presentation will walk participants through the process of creating, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and commending/correcting an advanced competency model for their organization.
