Swiss energy company Reninvest SA recently announced plans to install four new windfarms with a total energy output of 45 megawatts MW in northern Germany.

Mecklenburg I 10 MW, Mecklenburg II 20 MW, Mecklenburg III 7.5 MW and Mecklenburg IV 7.5 MW will be equipped with 2.5MW Nordex Wind Turbines.

The four windfarms will be located in the county of MecklenburgWest Pomerania. The exact location will depend on the regional development plan, which has not been approved by the authorities yet. The construction of the windfarms will start in June 2011, and completion is set for the end of the same year. Tenders for subcontractors will be opened January 2011. Reninvest will invest almost $130 million in the development of the four projects.

Wind conditions in the county of MecklenburgWest Pomerania are excellent for power generation. More than 34 of the countys yearly energy needs could be met by wind energy. Almost 1,500 MW of power is currently being produced by wind turbines in the county, according to the German Wind Energy Institute.

Reninvest was founded in 2004. The company is committed to producing electricity from renewable sources. Reninvest collects investments, plans the site, obtains authorizations, organizes and administrates construction and operates plants. The company owns and operates various windfarms in Germany and has plans to construct wind facilities in Switzerland, Italy and Greece.

Physicists Just Achieved Conduction of Electricity at Close to The Speed of Light

LONDON - When it comes to data transfer and computing, the faster we can shift electrons and conduct electricity the better – and scientists have just been able to transport electrons at sub-femtosecond speeds (less than one quadrillionth of a second) in an experimental setup.

The trick is manipulating the electrons with light waves that are specially crafted and produced by an ultrafast laser. It might be a long while before this sort of setup makes it into your laptop, but the fact they pulled it off promises a significant step forward in terms of what we can expect from our…
