The National Energy Board (the Board) announced that it will hold public consultation sessions in six major Canadian centres to seek comment on its upcoming supply and demand report.

The Board also released a consultation draft of the report today for public comment.

In November 2002, the Board invited Canadians who have a background in energy issues or a genuine interest in CanadaÂ’s energy future to participate in public consultation sessions regarding CanadaÂ’s Energy Future: Scenarios for Supply and Demand to 2025 which is scheduled for release in the Spring of 2003.

To facilitate participation at workshops being held by the NEB, a consultation draft is now available for review. The draft is posted on the BoardÂ’s Web site at www.neb-one.gc.ca under Participate in Supply and Demand and WhatÂ’s New. In addition to the workshops, interested parties may wish to make written comments or submit papers on the consultation package no later than 14 February 2003.

The National Energy Board is an independent federal agency that regulates several aspects of Canada's energy industry. Its purpose is to promote safety, environmental protection and economic efficiency in the Canadian public interest within the mandate set by Parliament in the regulation of pipelines, energy development and trade.
