In a minor Cabinet reshuffle in Kerala, newly-inducted Minister K. Muraleedharan was given the Electricity portfolio.

Announcing this after a meeting of the state Cabinet, Chief Minister A.K. Antony said present Electricity Minister Kadavoor Sivadasan was shifted to Health in place of P. Sankaran, who got Tourism.

K.V. Thomas, who was holding the Tourism portfolio, was given Fisheries and Excise, the Chief Minister said, adding that there would be a major Cabinet reshuffle after the Lok Sabha elections.

He said the induction of Muraleedharan as the 21st member in his Cabinet would strengthen the ruling United Democratic Front and the Government.

Antony said the Congress party in Kerala would not split and the speculations on the contrary were proved wrong.
