Ability Test Phase Nears Conclusion

"Passing the ability test is a significant milestone in a market participant's preparations for the open electricity market," says the IMO's Vice President of Market Services, Derek Cowbourne. "It's one of the key activities before the Coupled Operational Dry Run, and the market launch next spring."

To date, 134 market participants have passed or are in the process of passing their ability tests. All organizations that want to participate in the IMO-administered markets for market opening must individually demonstrate their readiness for the market by completing their ability tests prior to the start of preparations for the Coupled Operational Dry Run.

"We are rapidly approaching market launch and have made great progress on all market preparations," says Cowbourne. "It's imperative for all market participants who haven't yet booked their ability tests to contact us as soon as possible to schedule these tests."
