Sikorsky building EV helicopter

An electric-powered helicopter is being built by Sikorsky, a unit of United Technologies, to test the capabilities of the alternative motor design.

The piloted aircraft is based on the S-300C design and features a 200-horsepower electric motor powered by lithium ion batteries.

Sikorsky will use the demonstration craft to help develop improved electric technology.

Periodically, an integrated resource plan is created to predict how all this will add up during the ensuing 25 years. That process is currently underway and is led by Nova Scotia Power Inc. (NSPI) and will be submitted for approval to the Utilities and Review Board (UARB).
