An electric-powered helicopter is being built by Sikorsky, a unit of United Technologies, to test the capabilities of the alternative motor design.

The piloted aircraft is based on the S-300C design and features a 200-horsepower electric motor powered by lithium ion batteries.

Sikorsky will use the demonstration craft to help develop improved electric technology.

PARIS - Floating offshore wind turbine Floatgen, the first offshore wind turbine installed off the French coast, exported its first KWh to the electricity grid.
