Doble welcomes new president

Doble Engineering is pleased to announce the appointment of David Zabetakis as President.

Zabetakis brings over 20 years of executive leadership experience in the utility industry, including Aclara Software, CURRENT group, and Pepco Energy Services.

"I am honored to be a part of Doble, and look forward to meeting our clients who have been active in the Doble community for years,” Zabetakis said. "Our goal is to stay true to the original mission of Dr. Doble to work in partnership with electric power utilities. In addition, with an aging power infrastructure and retiring workforce, Doble will lead the industry with new technology and solutions to ensure that utilities can usher in the next era of safe and reliable operations.”

This appointment underscores the firm and ongoing commitment of parent company ESCO Technologies to Doble Engineering Company. Vic Richey, ESCO’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented: “ESCO Technologies recognized the essential and expanding role of Doble Engineering in the future of the electric power industry, which was the basis of our decision to acquire Doble in 2007. Ex-SpaceX engineers in race to build first commercial electric speedboat

LOS ANGELES - A team of former SpaceX rocket engineers have joined the race to build the first commercial electric speedboat.

The Arc Boat company announced it had raised $4.25m (£3m) in seed funding to start work on a 24ft 475-horsepower craft that will cost about $300,000.

The LA-based company, which is backed by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (an early backer of Facebook and Airbnb), said the first model of the Arc One boat would be available for sale by the end of the year.
