Direct Energy Business Services recently announced that it has entered into a strategic agreement with O&Y Enterprise Limited Partnership, a subsidiary of O&Y REIT.

Direct Energy BS has also been awarded their National Energy Efficiency Initiative contract, a program aimed at helping all of O&Y Enterprise's managed properties reduce energy costs and minimize consumption.

"This is believed to be the first time in the Canadian real estate industry that an energy efficiency initiative of this magnitude has been designed and awarded in the private sector," stated a Canada Newswire press release.

Direct Energy Business Services has created a comprehensive energy management program that includes: Energy Studies, assessments of energy performance for all properties managed by O&Y Enterprise, energy reduction alternatives, equipment renewal and new technology recommendations and financial alternatives for the implementation of energy retrofit projects.

"This will provide O&Y Enterprise and all of its managed properties with the insight and data that will allow them to create an overall cost reduction strategy, improve their operating effectiveness and increase the overall value of their properties," said Bob Huggard, President, Direct Energy Business Services. "We look forward to working together with O&Y Enterprise towards the collective goal of conserving energy, especially considering the issues associated with electricity supply in the Ontario market."

Geoff Harrison, President, O&Y Enterprise said that O&Y entered into this agreement with Direct Energy Business Services because of their leading industry knowledge and the innovation that can improve the operating efficiency of our managed properties.

"Understanding the potential to reduce operating costs resulting from reduced energy consumption makes good sense for our clients, their tenants and the environment."
