An environmentally focused convention that promotes green goods and services will be open to both businesses and consumers, January 24-25, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
With more than 250 vendor booths and exhibits, Go Green Expo makes use of seminars and panels, film presentations, demonstrations, and a green marketplace, similar to green gadgets covered at electronics shows, to promote eco-friendly products including organic clothing (organic, bamboo and hemp), healthy personal care products, non-toxic home care kits, natural pet foods, artificial grass, energy auditors, and solar panels.
Water is a theme with several products on show from stainless water bottles replacements for plastic to self-heating baby bottles, water purification systems, and Kangen water - a Japanese water technology that turns acidic, contaminated and chlorinated tap water into healthier alkaline water that can do wonders for the body (www.thiswaterchangedmylife.com).
The event keynote speaker is environmentalist and actor Ed Begley Jr., who promotes a green lifestyle on his television show, Living With Ed, on U.S. cable channel Planet Green, one of the Discovery Networks. Also, film director Josh Tickell will attend a panel with actor Peter Fonda and Mariel Hemingway to discuss the screening of his Sundance Film Festival winner Fuel, as California fleets go green across the state.
Seminars and panels, film presentations and demonstrations will feature authors including Josh Dorfman (bestseller The Lazy Environmentalist) and Mariel Hemingway (Healthy Living from the Inside Out) who will speak along with wellness professionals and sustainability experts covering topics including EV experience tours and eco-tourism, energy, conservation, green construction, and sustainable design.
Located downtown, the Los Angeles Convention Center venue, which has seen green technology at the L.A. show highlighted, is one of the first in the U.S. to be awarded a green LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the US Green Building Council. The expo will utilize Ride Amigos which provides online ride-sharing transportation solutions for events and the public in hybrid vehicles.
Begun in 2008, the organization producing the Go Green events, aligned with the momentum of Everything Electric returning to Vancouver, uses green practices such as biodegradable trash bags and compostable banners to reduce waste. Nearly 10,000 are expected to attend.
