Electric City announced that the New York City Parks has achieved a 27 per cent reduction in electrical consumption on its initial EnergySaver(TM) installation completed in December.

The project represents the second major Park District in the US to utilize the EnergySaver technology following Electric City's $1.5 million project at the Chicago Park District.

"We are very impressed with the performance of the EnergySaver at our initial site," stated Eileen Egan, Vice President of Facility Services of the New York Park District. "We now see why the Chicago Park District has expanded it across their system and we intend to do the same. We are seeing a 27% power reduction level without a visible reduction in lighting. The technology has exceeded all of our expectation. We expect to expand this project throughout 2003."

"We're extremely pleased that the New York Park system has recognized the value of the EnergySaver and seen the strength of its performance," said Eric Pitcher, Electric City senior vice president. "As we've shown with New York parks and marquee customers across the country, the EnergySaver reduces electrical consumption for lighting by 20 to 40 per cent without costly retrofits of bulbs and ballasts to help organizations reduce their overall lighting costs. We are working with them to expand this project across their system and we are confident that they will serve as an example for other major Park systems across the U.S. Since this project is now the second major park district to make a commitment to the EnergySaver, we are confident that we will be growing our position in this large market sector in 2003 and beyond."
