"Customers have told us they consider service quality and options, including on-line service, a top priority," said Patricia Youzwa, vice-president, Customer Services, SaskPower. "The launch of these additional on-line customer services reflects our commitment to continuous improvement of our services and providing customers more choice and convenience in contacting us."
On-line meter reading and budget billing plan application are available to urban, rural residential and small business customers with Internet access. Farm customers can access the on-line meter reading service, as all farm accounts are currently settled on the same payment basis as budget billing.
The on-line meter reading service includes information on how to read a meter and when to submit a reading to ensure accurate and up-to-date billing. To submit a meter read, customers need to have their 16-digit SaskPower account number, their meter number, and the reading obtained from their meter.
SaskPower's budget billing plan offers customers the convenience of one set payment for 11 months of a year, with a settle-up statement for the annual electricity costs in the twelfth billing month. To apply for budget billing on-line, customers only need their 16-digit SaskPower account number.
In addition to meter reading and budget billing application, SaskPower offers on-line service to apply for GreenPower, gas and electrical inspection permits, and oilfield service. Customers can also take advantage of EnergyCheck, the interactive service that helps visitors to this web site identify ways to reduce home energy consumption and save money on their energy bills.
Customer inquiries received on saskpower.com have increased by over 80 per cent since 2000. Forty-two percent of visitors to SaskPower's Web site access services and information after business hours.
