Southern Power buys plant from LS Power
West Georgia Generating has a 600-megawatt power plant with four gas-fired combustion turbines in Thomaston, Georgia. Capacity from two of the four units is sold through long-term power purchase agreements with the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia and the Georgia Energy Cooperative.
The sales agreement also includes the acquisition by LS Power of a 100 percent ownership interest of Southern Power's DeSoto County Generating Company LLC, which has a 320-megawatt plant in Arcadia, Fla.
Southern Power is a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Southern Co. that acquires, builds, manages and owns wholesale generation assets.
