Missouri co-ops to get $237M in federal loans
MISSOURI - Five Missouri-based electric cooperatives are receiving a total of more than $237 million in federal loans to make improvements.
The money from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will go to build or repair electric distribution lines and to finance energy conservation or renewable energy systems.
About $200 million will go to Springfield-based Associated Electric Cooperative, which serves customers in Missouri, Oklahoma and Iowa.
Nearly $19 million will go to United Electric Cooperatives, based in Savannah.
West Central Electric Cooperative, based in Higginsville, will get nearly $13 million.
Sac Osage Electric Cooperative, based in El Dorado Springs, will receive $5.5 million.
