Georgia Power Solar Program simplifies renewable energy adoption with an interactive tool, expert guidance, and flexible installers, helping residential customers evaluate solar panels, projected installation costs, and energy savings while maintaining predictable electric rates.

Inside the Issue

A utility-led path to adopt residential solar with expert support, installer choice, and controlled costs.

  • Interactive assessment tool for residential solar suitability
  • Georgia Power Solar Energy Expert provides tailored guidance
  • Choose any installer or Georgia Power Energy Services Team
  • Cost procurement designed to avoid upward pressure on rates

Georgia Power recently announced the launch of a new solar sales and installation service for customers beginning July 1. As an unregulated offering, the program will be administered by Georgia Power Energy Services, a business unit more than 20 years old focused on providing turnkey installation of energy efficiency products for customers.

"Georgia has one of the fastest growing and most competitive solar markets in the country," said Norrie McKenzie, vice president of renewable development for Georgia Power. "Our new solar offering further delivers on Georgia Power's commitment to provide the energy choices our customers want and the world class service they expect."

Georgia Power's process makes it easy for customers to determine if solar is right for them. The first step for residential customers considering solar is to use the interactive tool at www.GeorgiaPower.com/Solar.

A Georgia Power Solar Energy Expert will then contact them to discuss potential solar installations and estimated energy savings figures. Customers who choose to move forward with installing solar can use an installer of their choice, including the option of Georgia Power's unregulated Energy Services Team, which will manage the solar installation and work directly with the customer. If the customer decides not to move forward with installing solar, then Georgia Power can provide information about other customized energy solutions.

Thanks to constructive regulation and a competitive marketplace, Georgia is leading the nation as one of the fastest growing solar states, even as it has opted to stay out of the regional wind power group conversation. Through Georgia Power's various solar programs, similar to PSE&G solar programs elsewhere, the company is adding thousands of solar panels to Georgia's energy landscape. All of the company's solar resources will have been procured at costs designed to prevent upward pressure on rates and ensure that solar offers the most value for Georgia Power customers.
