Four 9.9-megawatt projects on the northern shore of Lake Erie will have a total installed capacity of 39.6 MW, generating enough power to serve nearly 12,000 homes annually.
International Power acquired the project with its $119 million cash acquisition of wind-farm developer AIM PowerGen Corp in October 2009. AIM had previously developed the 66-turbine Erie Shores wind farm, which delivers about 99 MW of power to the Ontario grid.
To date, 18 of 24 wind turbine foundations at Harrow are complete and six turbines have been delivered, the company, a unit of International Power Plc, said.
