TVA has received the first delivery of wind power under seven contracts the utility recently signed to buy up to 1,380 megawatts of wind power from the Midwest, the federal utility said.

The Tennessee Valley Authority said it has now transmitting to customers 300 megawatts of wind power received from Iberdrola Renewables Inc.'s Streator Cayuga Ridge wind park in Livingston County, Ill.

The contract with Iberdrola Renewables is the largest of TVA's wind- power contracts, which altogether may provide enough electricity for about 325,000 average-size homes, according to a press release.

Another 115 megawatts from Horizon Wind Energy LLC's Pioneer Prairie wind farm in Howard and Mitchell counties in Iowa will be delivered in the fall, TVA said.
