Vestas Enbridge service contract extends seven years for the 190 MW wind farm near Kincardine, delivering O&M, spare parts, major component replacements, and VestasOnline remote monitoring to maximize output from 115 V82 turbines.

What's Happening

A seven-year O&M extension covering maintenance, parts, and remote monitoring for Enbridge's 190 MW Ontario wind farm.

  • 7-year extension for 190 MW Enbridge Ontario Wind
  • Full O&M: scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
  • Major component replacements and spare parts

Vestas secures 190 MW service-renewal wind turbines contract for Canada’s second largest wind farm. Vestas has supplied 1,021 wind turbines to Canada totaling 1,683 MW of installed wind power capacity.

Vestas has secured a service-contract extension for seven years from Enbridge for the 190-MW Enbridge Ontario wind farm near Kincardine, Ontario.

Installed in September 2006 and Canada’s second largest wind power plant, the site includes 115 V82-1.65-MW wind turbines, which generate enough electricity to power about 57,000 homes in Ontario, even as Ontario's largest wind farm moves forward elsewhere.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with Enbridge, one of Canada’s leading energy-delivery companies,” said Martha Wyrsch, President of Vestas-Canadian Wind Technology, Inc. “This service contract also ensures long-term job stability for 14 Ontarians who provide maintenance for these turbines, reflecting how Vestas in Ontario may follow Samsung in its broader plans.”

Under the agreements, Vestas will provide a full range of services to maximize the turbines’ energy production, similar to support seen when Enbridge teams with RES Canada on regional projects. The services consist of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, replacement of major components and spare parts, and a surveillance system called VestasOnline®, which allows Vestas to monitor and remotely control the turbines.
