EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the entry into service of the Salles-Curan wind farm in the Aveyron department. With capacity of 87 MW, this wind farm is the largest facility in France.

It will supply electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of over 100,000 people, or close to 40% of the departmentÂ’s population.

Located in the Aveyron department on the very windy Lévézou plateau at Salles-Curan, west of Millau, this 87 MW project comprises 29 high-power wind turbines each with 3 MW in capacity. They were supplied by Vestas, the world leader in the manufacture of turbines.

“In the wake of the recently commissioned Chemin d’Ablis and Villesèque facilities, this new wind farm lifts the total capacity brought into service in France this year to 190 MW. 2008 has been a new record year for us, with the commissioning of three large-scale facilities spread out in France. It is a great satisfaction for our teams” stated David Corchia, Chief Executive Officer of EDF Energies Nouvelles.

With Salles-Curan representing its eighteenth wind farm in France, where it now has over 345 MW in capacity in service, EDF Energies Nouvelles has consolidated its position as a force to be reckoned with in wind energy.

Since social distancing and telecommuting isn’t an option in this context, NYPA has instituted regular health screenings and deep cleanings to keep the coronavirus out.

The problem is that each power plant relies on only a handful of control room operators. Since they…
