The German government will cut incentives for solar power by 16 percent from July 1, a parliamentary source told Reuters.

The cuts in the feed-in tariff will apply for rooftop photovoltaic systems as well as those built on conversion sites such as dumps and former army bases.

But converted farmland fields will no longer be eligible for any incentives at all from July 1, the source said.

The measure still has to pass cabinet and the parliament. The feed-in tariff was already cut by 9 percent in January.
