Utility Integration Solutions, Inc. (UISOL), the utility industry business integration specialist, announced the expansion of its outage management systems (OMS) consulting and integration practice within its Smart Grid Integration division headed by UISOL Senior Vice President Terry Nielsen.

A member of the Oracle Partner Program, UISOL now includes over a dozen industry experts with hands on integration and deployment experience with OMS software from a wide range of vendors including Oracle (formerly CES), ABB, Intergraph, GE and Milsoft. Through the application of smart business integration, UISOL has helped more than 40 utility industry companies improve service and reliability performance with effective systems integration and business process management.

As a group, the UISOL team of outage management experts has participated in the delivery of OMS systems to over 60 utilities around the world and team members have been individually involved in OMS system deployments to 16 of the top 30 investor-owned utilities in North America. UISOL Chief Technology Officer Scott Neumann and Terry Nielsen are both members of the original founding management team of the former CES International (now Oracle).

Since 2007, UISOL has been engaged in an ongoing OMS services and maintenance support contract with Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L), a subsidiary of Great Plains Energy. Previously, UISOL supported the delivery of integration services between KCP&L's Oracle OMS and its Intergraph mobile work management system.

"KCP&L has engaged UISOL on several Outage Management System (OMS) enhancement projects. UISOL was a significant contributor to the success of those projects," said Stephen Diebold, Manager Real-time Systems at KCP&L. "Not only does UISOL have a staff rich in OMS experience, they demonstrated strong project management acumen," he added.

UISOL Senior Vice President Smart Grid Integration Terry Nielsen concluded, "UISOL continues to add some of the best and brightest OMS system experts in the industry to its growing team. As the utility industry evolves to embrace expanded real-time distribution system modeling and simulation, UISOL is well positioned to support its clients as they seek to upgrade current systems and deploy additional capabilities in support of smart grid initiatives."
