Conference to focus on Indiana wind energy growth
Windiana 2009 focuses on utility scale and small wind systems for use at homes, businesses and farms.
Purdue University says there are about 310 wind turbines in Benton and Tippecanoe counties producing more than 530 megawatts of electricity each year. Nearly 175 more turbines are under construction in Benton and White counties and are projected to generate about 200 megawatts.
The American Wind Energy Association says Indiana leads the nation in the growth of wind energy.

Irving Oil invests in electrolyzer to produce hydrogen from water
SAINT JOHN - Irving Oil is expanding hydrogen capacity at its Saint John, N.B., refinery in a bid to lower carbon emissions and offer clean energy to customers.
The family-owned company said Tuesday it has a deal with New York-based Plug Power Inc. to buy a five-megawatt hydrogen electrolyzer that will produce two tonnes of hydrogen a day — equivalent to fuelling 60 buses with hydrogen — using electricity from the local grid.
