The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will facilitate the export of 1,000 megawatts of electricity from Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan to Pakistan and Afghanistan to help overcome to some extent their growing energy shortage, the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan reported recently.

ADB is providing a multi-million U.S. dollar technical assistance grant for a study which will look into the feasibility and viability of the proposed project, said the APP report.

ADB's multi-country working group will deal with the financial and technical aspects of the proposed project, with the assistance of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Islamic Development Bank, and the World Bank, it said.
