This intention was voiced during today's meeting between the head of Rosatom, Aleksandr Rumyantsev, and the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Gholamreza Aqazadeh.
Rosatom said that during the meeting there was a discussion of issues relating to the construction of the first unit of the Bushehr power plant and that "the two sides confirmed their intention to commission the nuclear power station before the end of 2006".
Russian specialists are currently completing construction of the first unit at Bushehr, which is designed to have a capacity of 1,000 MW. It was also reported earlier that Russia is planning to build six nuclear power plant units in Iran over the next 10 years.
