Regulators are seeking more information about the environmental impact of new reactors proposed at North Anna Power Station.

In a letter to Dominion Virginia Power dated July 20, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission wrote that staff "has identified the need for additional information regarding the status of compliance with other requirements associated with the proposed action." The letter cites state and federal certifications required to protect coastal zones and water quality. Dominion has said that those approvals are not needed to support its early site-permit application pending before the NRC. The utility wants the option to build up to two more nuclear reactors at the Louisa County plant on Lake Anna. The permit would allow Dominion to resolve site and environmental issues before submitting a construction plan, and to "bank" a site for 20 years.
