A third developer of wind energy has pledged financial support to the Wind for Schools program in South Dakota.

The Public Utilities Commission said FPL Energy will give $10,000. It operates a 27-turbine wind farm in Hyde County.

The Wind for Schools program installs small wind turbines at schools to help educate students about alternative energy. Last summer, eight school districts were chosen to participate.

Iberdrola Renewables and Babcock & Brown also have each pledged $10,000 to the program. Iberdrola is developing wind farms in Brookings County. Babcock & Brown is developing one at Wessington Springs.
