BC Hydro announces Power Smart Forum 2008

B.C. organizations wishing to improve energy efficiency and promote conservation can learn how at the 2008 Power Smart Forum. BC Hydro announced today the opening of registration for the free three-day energy conservation conference.

The forum, aimed at commercial, institutional, government and industrial organizations from across the province, includes a full day of information sessions and a trade show on Nov. 17, and two days of workshops on Nov. 18 and 19.

"We have invited leading experts from across North America to speak on energy efficiency at the information sessions and workshops. We're offering attendees a rich source of practical and current information, that will inspire people to become energy conservation leaders within their organizations," said Bev Van Ruyven, executive vice-president of Customer Care and Conservation at BC Hydro.

Bob Willard, corporate sustainability expert and the author of The Sustainability Advantage: Seven Business Case Benefits of a Triple Bottom Line and The Next Sustainability Wave: Building Boardroom Buy-in, will deliver the breakfast keynote addresses on the opening day. His presentation will help attendees discover how to enhance their organizationÂ’s competitiveness by behaving more responsibly.

Information sessions will cover topics ranging from financing energy efficiency programs and business skills for energy management success to energy efficiency certification for facilities and strategies for achieving carbon neutrality by 2012. More than thirty exhibitors will also be on hand to display the latest in energy savings technology and services.

Workshop options tailored to commercial/institutional organizations and industrial businesses will provide valuable and relevant information to energy efficiency and conservation decision makers within those respective sectors.

“The Power Smart Forum is a huge learning experience. We meet and talk to new people and discover ideas and many of those ideas go forth and help us achieve the goals that ultimately help us win Power Smart Excellence Awards,” said John Percival, Senior Energy and Project Manager, Provincial Health Services Authority.

The forum takes place at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver. Admission to the sessions and trade show, and select commercial workshops, is free of charge.
