El Paso Electric has installed solar panels at two of its power plants to generate a small amount of electricity each year.

The photovoltaic systems have been installed at the Newman power plant in Northeast El Paso and the Rio Grande power plant in Sunland Park, the company announced.

The solar panels will generate 260,000 kilowatt hours of electricity a year. That's the amount of electricity 448 El Paso homes with average electricity usage will consume in one month.
